The client: A local firm of architects, referred to LMS Computer Services by an existing client.
The brief: The company operates from two offices, one in Arundel and one in Hassocks. The employees were using USB flash memory drives to transfer files between the two locations, which was creating confusion over the status of updated documents. Also, there was also no backup system in place.
The service: A brand new network, using Cat5e cabling, was supplied and installed in the Arundel office, along with new computers and servers. A virtual private network (VPN) and FTP server were set up, along with remote access to office PCs. Centralised storage was created on the server as well as a local backup system for the office. In addition, a system was set up to periodically mirror backups to the Hassocks office. An exchange server was also installed to provide a simplified, synchronised email system, enabling employees to receive emails on mobile devices, laptops and workstations in the office.
