The client: An existing client of LMS Computer Services.
The brief: A long-planned overhaul of the IT infrastructure, prompted by a proposal submitted by LMS Computer Services when first contracted to provide IT support. The office was run on a wireless network, there was no backup system in place and security needed improving. Regular system failures and subsequent support were proving costly.
The service: A network was installed using Cat6 cabling, providing faster data transmission. A fast gigabit switch was used to give superior transmission bandwidth. A new modem/router was also supplied and installed, along with a wireless network and a high-level security package. A server and new PCs were supplied to replace the old, failing home-grade PCs. The server was used for file sharing and to back up the computers on a daily basis. The server was itself backed up locally, with weekly backups taken off site. Remote access was also set up for part-time employees and a sharing permission system was implemented to restrict access to confidential files.
